Malawi has gone three days without Covid-19 death

As the fight against the Coronavirus in the country is still on, for the past three days no Covid-19 related death has occurred.

According to a daily report released by the Ministry of health in conjunction with the Presidential task force on Covid-19, the fight against Coronavirus is progressing.


For the last 24 hours, Malawi has registered 14 new cases and at least 16 people have recovered from the virus without a single death.


As it stands, the country has 1902 active cases with over 3000 recoveries.

Since the country registered its first Covid-19 cases over 5000 people tested positive for the novel coronavirus.


Dr. John Phuka chairperson for the presidential task force on Covid-19 is urging people to continue following preventive measure with an aim of defeating the virus as the progress s still there.

Among others, maintain social distance, wash hands with soap always, put on a mask when in crowded places and seek medical attention when you feel unusual sign that might be related to covid-19.

Oxfam has donated preventive equipment to 18 primary schools in Dowa district

In joining efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19, Oxfam has donated preventive equipment to 18 primary schools in Dowa district. Oxfam Malawi deputy country director, Ellias Khozombwe, says the donation which is worth 2.8 million kwacha has come in a bid to ensure that learners are safe as schools fully resume next month. On his part, Director of Education, Youth and Sports for Dowa district council Christopher Kumikunde hailed Oxfam for the gesture saying it will go a long way to assist learners as schools open.

Minister cautions authority at Liwonde National Park to end wildlife-human conflict

Minister of Tourism, Culture and Wildlife Dr. Michel Usi has urged the African Parks, operators of Liwonde National Park, to end wildlife-human conflict which has been experienced for a long time. Usi made the call on Wednesday on a familiarisation tour of Liwonde National Park where among other things he was briefed on the park’s activities, taken to the park’s control room and later flown around the Liwonde National Park on a helicopter to appreciate the park area.
