A grouping of Pastors and Sheikhs in Dedza has called on parliamentarians not to pass into law the safe abortion bill when it is presented in parliament.

Earlier this week, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Health Committee Dr Mathews Ngwale told a meeting of Safe abortion advocates that an amended bill could be presented during this sitting of parliament.


But Chairperson of the Dedza Pastors Fraternal, Moses Chikuta, has told Zodiak Online that Malawi is a God fearing country hence no need to legalise safe abortion in the country.

Proponents of the law on safe abortion, however, argue that without it, many women die due to complications that arise from unsafe abortions.
