President Lazarus Chakwera says his administration will ensure de-politicization of the Malawi Enterprise Development Fund (MEDF) loan scheme to ensure it benefits everyone regardless of one’s political affiliation.

Addressing the press, State House Director of Communications Sean Kampondeni explained that following reports of abuse and partisan interests in loan disbursements, the MEDF management has been sent on leave to pave way for an audit on the fund’s operations.

This also comes in the wake of remarks made by Malawi Congress Party’s second deputy President Harry Mkandawire who is on record to have said that the funds are for the party’s supporters.

Effective Friday, August 28 2020, Airtel Money fees when cashing out at an agent will be reduced by up to 50% from the Previous range of MK20 – MK12,500 to a new revised range of MK20 – MK7,000. In a press statement made available to The Maravi Post, Airtel Money Director Polycarp Ndekana that the move will enable Airtel Money Customers to transact at a cheaper cost and keep enjoying Airtel Money’s various services. Ndekana disclosed that the full price list will be released on Friday. “Airtel Money remains committed to enabling digital money transfers and payments to further increase financial inclusion in the country,” says Ndekana.
